Charlie Garratt

Charlie Garratt has lived in Broseley, Shropshire, since 2018, having moved from Donegal, Ireland, where he started writing fiction as part of a writers’ group.

 

His first novel, A Shadowed Livery, was published in 2015, followed by three more detective novels set in 1938-1940, featuring Inspector James Given. The fifth novel in the series, A Malignant Death, is due to be published by Sapere Books in Spring 2022.

 

Charlie self-published A Handkerchief for Maria during lockdown in 2020. It is a family saga, based on researching his own family. He’s had short stories published in an anthology, Wild Atlantic Words, and had a number of non-fiction titles on community development and tenant involvement published.

He’s currently working on a new project, a detective series set in 18th century Bridgnorth.
